It is with regret that Council have agreed to postpone the 2020 international convention in Toronto due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The convention committee are working hard to work out alternative dates in 2021.
The 2020 IRSE International Convention will focus on the challenges of interoperability in both the mainline and metro fields, with a varied programme of presentations and technical visits to witness the latest developments in the Toronto area.
We will be based in downtown Toronto and there will be an accompanying guest programme for delegates' partners who are warmly invited to join the Convention.
This event provides an unrivalled opportunity to see and learn more about the latest technology in the field and to meet and share ideas with fellow professionals from across the global signalling and control industry. The Convention is aimed particularly at active professionals wishing to expand their knowledge, but we expect many senior professionals to be present whose generosity in sharing their long experience greatly enhances the Convention experience.
Delegates will be provided with hotel information to enable them to make their own accommodation arrangements according to individual preference and budget. In addition, the Marriott Courtyard Toronto Downtown are offering a special rate for all attending the IRSE Convention of 249 CAD per night, available from 7 to 12 September 2020, with last booking date for this special rate of 21 July 2020. This is available through the Marriott direct via Marriott group rate IRSE convention 2020.

Prices for the convention have been announced as:
- Delegate rate for IRSE members and members of other engineering institutions: £625
Delegate rate for non-members: £725
- Delegate guest rate: £595
Note that payment is available in GDP only.
There will be an optional trip to Niagara Falls available to delegates and their guests, taking place during the day of Monday 7 September priced at £25 per person (GDP only). Details of this will be emailed to convention delegates once they have booked for the convention. There is limited availability for this trip.
