Presidential lecture No.1: ‘Measurement Systems & Machine Learning’
27 May 2021 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Section: Presidential Programme Lecture (events@irse.org)

You are invited to join us for the first of Ian Bridges’ Presidential Programme lectures on the theme the age of the intelligent railway.

Dr Jonathan Owen PhD MMath (Vision and Survey Product Owner) and Richard Parkinson MEng (Signalling Data Analyst) will be discussing Measurement Systems and Machine Learning.

The railway requires constant measurement and monitoring, with 20,000 miles of track and associated signalling equipment in the UK this is a substantial task. With increased capacity demands, a drive to reduce red zone working and extend asset life, the need for automating these tasks has never been greater. In this lecture Omnicom Balfour Beatty share their thoughts on how remote condition monitoring can meet these requirements through the examples of vehicle-based vision systems and level crossing monitoring.

IRSE members and non-members are welcome to listen and join the debate.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, this lecture will be held as a virtual event only. Click here to register for your free place.
