My Esteemed Railway Career

This presentation is by EUR ING Les Biggs B Eng(Hons), C Eng, FIRSE, FIET, FPWI on his career. He was born in November 1961 in Romford and a True Essex Boy, ending up living in Whitstable, Kent form 1969 and left school in May 1978 with very little CSE’s and then commenced a path in life with a full Time College course (1978 to 1979) in at Canterbury Technical College in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, commencing his railway career in May 1979.

His talk is going to be regarding ‘My Esteemed Railway Career’ over the last 42 Years when he joined ‘British Railways’ in May 1979 and employed as a ‘Junior Railman’ as a very young 17 year old in the Signalling and Telegraph Minor works section in the East Kent area under the Area Signal Engineer ‘Mr John Cordwell’ and the Supervisor E ‘Mr Edward Farrow’ based at Faversham through to his current position as the PEM Testing and Commissioning Assurance Engineer at Network Rail within Route Services providing assurance, Guidance and support to all projects and programmes across the whole of the UK’s Railway infrastructure and undertaking a Bachelor’s Degree later in life from 2011 until 2017 when he graduated with an Honours Degree proving you are never to young to learn, proving the saying you can teach an old dog new tricks.
