The IRSE Irish Section are delighted to be hosting a technical weekend as part of the President, Andy Knight’s, programme of events.

Booking has now closed for this event.

The event will be held in Dublin, framed by mountains, centred on a river and edged by a beautiful bay, the city's streets and alleys are filled with vibrant art and historic buildings, hip cafés and traditional pubs. Walk the streets and you'll feel the energy of over 1,000 years of history, as echoes of the Vikings mix with buzzing boutiques, cobbled streets reverberate with the sounds of buskers, 18th century parks, a resoundingly social place, packed with culture, creativity and craic.

The weekend's theme is ‘Shaping the Future’ and it will give the delegates an insight into Iarnrod Eireann’s major plans for the development of a National Train Control Centre, at Heuston Station, the introduction of a National Train Protection System and its level crossing control activity.

The National Train Control Centre (NTCC) will be Iarnród Éireann’s centre for the management and regulation of train movements on their network. The centre will also provide real-time customer information at stations and social media platforms. The existing central train control centre is due for replacement due to capacity constraints with the existing IT systems nearing life expiration. A modern replacement National Train Control Centre will enable the integration of signalling and communications control across the entire network, making rail traffic management more efficient. Benefits of the new NTCC will be increased train performance and the availability of up to the minute accurate real-time travel information for trip planning.

Please note that all delegates will be expected to comply with any local Covid-19 rules and regulations which are in place at the time.
