London & SE section AGM 2024 and presentation on mastering the transition to MCX over 4G/5G to reach FRMCS in control rooms
23 May 2024 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Section: London & South East Section (londonse@irse.org)

L&SE AGM and technical presentation  – “Mastering the transition to MCX over 4G/5G to reach FRMCS in control rooms”

Please join the London & SE Section for their AGM followed by a technical presentation by Markus Myslivec, Head of Public Transport Solutions, Frequentis AG, Austria, Vienna.

This talk will focus on the journey to mission-critical communication services (MCX) over 4G/5G networks to reach FRMCS; it speeds up, as the first set of specifications is available.

The challenges of the migration of existing rail communication networks, including control rooms, to FRMCS become real. The focus during such a migration must be the same as for “day to day railway operation”: keep trains moving. Control rooms are a focal point of operations, for rail as well as for other domains; concepts for migration are already in place.

This presentation addresses the main challenges of the migration to FRMCS and outlines a step-wise approach to perform the transition within a control room environment utilizing the bearer independent, hence flexible, concept of railway communication.

Mr. Myslivec has a long history and vast experience in railway communications, ranging from software development for GSM-R mobile terminals to technical leadership in fixed line operational communication projects. He represents Frequentis within ETSI TC RT and the UNITEL committee of UNIFE. Within his company, Mr. Myslivec owns the technical strategy for the operational communication solutions within the business unit Public Transport. He is heavily engaged in inter-domain transfer of knowledge and technology as Frequentis provides communication and information systems for public transport, public safety, maritime and air traffic control domains.

The meeting will be virtual using Microsoft Teams only. There is no need to register to join the meeting using Teams - just use the connection information shown below.

If you intend to attend on-line then please add an entry in your diary as reminders may not be sent on the day.
The technical presentation will be preceded by the LSE’s AGM.
