Chartered status update
At the 2024 IRSE Annual General Meeting, IRSE members voted to adopt the special resolution authorising our Institution to petition for a Royal Charter.
A Charter provides formal recognition of the professionalism of our membership and would mark our pre-eminent expertise in global railway signalling, communications and train control. It would position us at the right level in future dealings with governments, other professional organisations and academia across the world.
A drafting team led by Rod Muttram FIRSE will now be convened as we begin what we anticipate will be a year-long journey towards being ready for the membership to ratify the Petition in advance of the presentation to Privy Council.
More details about the Charter and the process involved will be set out in the October 2024 issue of IRSE News.
